Search engine optimization is the trickiest form of getting traffic to a website. It’s because search engine algorithm changes frequently and there are very few hints if your website is going to survive the blow of Google or if is it going to be penalized because you are trying to manipulate the results. But one good thing about SEO is that if you did well in on page and off page SEO, and you finally get ranked, you will reap the fruits of your hard work and you will be able to get traffic without paying for traffic through Pay per click programs. And you won’t have to stare at the pie chart of how much organic traffic are you getting to your site because you were able to get high traffic-generating keywords.
Social media can be free or paid traffic. Facebook has ad campaigns and you can these too, especially if you are struggling to build a base of followers. It’s more helpful when you just started a page and you want to get fans that are really interested in what your business is all about. On the other hand, social media provides direct and quick traffic. If you post a social media status today, or you tweet something and you have active fans and followers, you can get instant traffic. It’s different from SEO because if you build a link today for SEO purposes, it doesn’t mean that you’ll get an instant traffic from that link.
Paid Search is a good marketing strategy especially if you are trying to experiment on certain keywords. Through paid search you are going to see if you can convert your traffic into leads. One mistake that business owners are always making is to pay for traffic that isn’t converting. They are happy to see people visiting their website but the big question is “Are they making sales from it?”
