New Visual Editor (Beta)

New Visual Editor (Beta)

Convert Experiments just got way more usable with a completely new designed infrastructure for the Visual Editor. You can now test your ecommerce site better with a better “Browse” functionality that allows you to access shopping cart pages in the same way you would access them in a tab in your preferred browser. We also added a “Rearrange” feature allowing you to change the order of content blocks fast. One other thing that just got better is the element selector feature that now highlights the area represented by a parent or child so you can easily select the right element. Below each feature in more detail.

Browse functionality

Ecommerce clients make up for a large portion of our client base, testing the checkout and cart pages seem to give the most gains but that was also the most complicated experiment to setup. Now we have a new visual editor which solves all that. Having another tab open or using the browse feature inside the visual editor and actually shopping on your site will now fill your shopping cart no matter if you use sessions, cookies or some fancy javascript; we will now have the same products in the shopping cart and checkout pages loaded inside the Visual Editor as in your other browser tabs. What does this change mean for you:

  • Testing behind login is now easier; if you load a site inside the visual editor and you are already logged into that site in the same browser, the session is copied over, no need to login again;
  • Testing cart and checkout pages now easier; any products you already added into the cart in your browser will appear into the cart when you load it through the visual editor;
  • Javascript heavy pages work better; pages with intensive javascript will load better inside the visual editor;

Note: All this benefits are only available on pages on which our tracking code is installed.

Test Price Anchoring Rearrange

Always wondered if the pricing plans should be sorted high to low or low to high? We tried that out and found high-to-low pricing work better in conversion rate on Convert. You should also test Price Anchoring (Wikipedia) it just became very easy with the new rearrange feature inside Convert Experiments, see video below.

Pro Feature: New Detailed Selectors

When making variations you want to be specific about what element you change. Convert Experiments now has a parent and child selector that shows exactly the html details of the element and highlights them with a blue border inside the visual editor before you choose it. A great addition for the pro’s.
