Litmus released this comprehensive infographic about what each user should, and should not do, when creating successful Calls to Action. Call to Action or CTAs refer to a marketing term about a sign or button that provokes users to respond, usually with an imperative verb such as “Click Here!” or “Buy Now!”. Although these may seem trivial to any user, to website owners, it is one of the most effective triggers that converts visitors into customers.

Aside from do’s and don’ts, the infographic also features several useful tips and interesting bits of information regarding CTAs such as:

  • Format and Language
  • Size and Placement
  • Color and Content
  • Bulletproof Buttons
  • Missing Links
  • Mobile Differences

When done correctly, calls to action can be the driving force for traffic generation in any website. It is the primary way for your customers to communicate to you that they are interested in your service/product. It is also one of the easiest ways to guide visitors into the right page to make a purchase or transaction.
